Introducing the Electrolux Supplier Awards Platform

Creating more consumer value together

Consumers today are more aware of the life they want to live and the choices they need to make. How do we ensure Electrolux helps them on this journey?

The Electrolux purpose is to shape living for the better: better tasting and healthier food, better clothing care, and better wellbeing at home. And not least, better sustainability in the making and use of our products.

More outstanding consumer experiences. More satisfied consumers who become repeat buyers. Less environmental impact. It’s a huge challenge.

Central to meeting that challenge is you, our supplier.

That’s why we are revamping the Supplier Awards. This year, we will be conducting the event virtually, broadcasting from a studio in Stockholm. Instead of a once-a-year recognition of the contributions of our suppliers, the Supplier Awards will keep us connected throughout the year.

With more connectivity in mind, we have created this website. It will serve as a platform to link up with our key suppliers, not only the award finalists.

We have also upgraded the award categories to reflect the importance of supplier value creation to Electrolux long-term goals. In addition, we have established a Sustainability Award that is open for self-nomination. Our CEO, Jonas Samuelson, is deeply committed to sustainability—with self-nomination, we want you to share your passion and achievements in reducing environmental impact.

The closer we work, the more we can deliver outstanding consumer experiences. The better we work together, the more we can grow our businesses and encourage sustainable practices to flourish.

Welcome to the Electrolux Supplier Awards Platform — a better way to collaborate.

Better than we imagined!

When we opened our Sustainability Award for self-nominations, we were optimistic for a high level of participation. We are pleased to announce that over 60 suppliers submitted a nomination form to be considered for the 2020 Sustainability Award. This engagement shows the passion for sustainability, which will be essential in our journey to meet our UN pledge of zero emissions throughout our value chain by 2050.

A huge thanks to all who participated! A special congratulations to our finalists, Codognotto Group and PreZero Polymers.

Sustainability: What some of our most ambitious suppliers are doing

You might have already read about the overwhelming response to the Sustainability Award: In the end, we received more than 60 nominations!

As we gear up to meet the challenge of climate change, it’s been really encouraging to see that many of the submissions align with two of our major targets: the Electrolux “For the Better 2030” goals; and secondly, our UN pledge to achieve zero net emissions throughout our value chain by 2050.

Recycled materials

Not only were we impressed by the high ambition level and quantity of nominations, but also by their quality. For example, we read about efforts being taken by some suppliers to use recycled materials, including plastic.

More efficient appliances

Other suppliers are developing more efficient compressors and motors. These are some of the most energy-hungry components and are found in all of our major appliance products. Research shows that 80% to 90% of the carbon footprint of an appliance comes from usage—so, these improvements can lead to significant overall reductions in power consumption.

More efficient operations

A number of nominations showed improvements in operations. For example, one of our suppliers has been working on a smart logistics solution that has reduced CO2 emissions by almost 50% over a ten-year period by using fuel-efficient/ alternative-fuel transportation.

Some suppliers have focused on energy usage by only consuming electricity generated from 100% renewable sources. Still others are using water in a more responsible way by repurposing water from taps, air conditioners and even rainwater, resulting in savings of millions of liters per year.

Managing waste streams is another area that has impressed, with one company reducing the use of 15,000 tons of wood and 5,000 tons of cardboard in one year. This has saved a million trees from being cut down.

And the finalists are…

Despite so many excellent initiatives, only two companies could make it through as finalists. So, a big thank-you to all our suppliers for sharing your ideas, results and, not least, your passion. See below to find out who the two finalists are.
